This Jewish Rabbi clears up a major misconception against Ishmael, the first born son of Prophet Abraham. Most Jews and Christians have negative perceptions about Ishmael, who is called the Father of the Northern Arabs (Muslims) and the ancestor of Prophet Muhammad. This negative perception is based on a false translation of Genesis 16:12. The Rabbi explains what the verse really means and clears Ishmael of the insults.

Rabbi Reuven Firestone is a Professor of Medieval Jewish and Islamic Studies. His specialties are early Islam and its relationship with Jews and Judaism, scriptural interpretation of the Bible and Qur'an, and the phenomenon of holy war.

  • well the fact remains that sarah said, "...my wrong be upon thee..." while talking to her husband Abraham. The point is that Issac (laughing) is to be the heir of good things to come promised by YHWH....and that Ishmeal (in the wild. his hand against everyone...) would be a slave- a bondsman; a willing slave.....but the bigger question is to what? The promises of YHWH to Isreal is always about deliverance and blessing and so this is deliverance to serve YHWH in holiness actual-total cleansing

  • @kocktoe They were not 'in the battle', & uniting with an aggressor is wrong, attacking a non aggressor is also wrong.

1st option for alliance - Muslim with justice.

2nd option - any just person not calling to evil.

The idea is to choose the lesser evil over the greater.

The Arab League has never achieved any good & it will never achieve any good because it is not based on Islam but on culture & ethnicity.

Like I said before, It's getting too difficult to return here to reply, click on my name.

  • @hannahr77 Anything that intoxicates, robbery & rape are all forbidden Islam, with no mitigating circumstances, so this is a big hint what type of Muslims they are; just like the Christians who indulge in every evil. These Muslims only go to the masjid as a social club.

Compare these to the many Muslim communities true out western societies that contributed to all that is good & are well respected by those in charge of national security.

  • @hannahr77 Like I said, they want wealth, not Islam. There are an estimated 2800 Danish converts to Islam, are they like the bad ones you talk about?

“Yet in my reading of the Koran (I have two differing copies) …There's also no support for suicide bombings,... and in fact most of what Muslims do doesn't come from the Koran at all. The terrorist tactics have been imported from Europe and the West.” Lewis Loflin

  • @KHALIIL01 The option was to fight and die, that is the only option for a Muslim in the Battle not turn on their heels and run to America for help and if they had no say in US intervention they should have united as Muslims and Arabs to fight the Americans and then mediated, even if Saddam was a Kuffar like you say the fact he stood against America means he is better then one who allies himself with America even though he was once an allie of America himself only proves Saddam to be a Hypocrite.

  • @smokeybirdman Yeah I dont deny that America will do what it wills, Saddam was no Saint, but I would have rather seen the Arabs see this conflict through then see foreign intervention and also see those who are Muslims also support foreign intervention because this in my opinion is un Islamic.

  • @kocktoe dude as Iraq was protecting its interests by attacking/invading Kuwait..., USA was doing the same thing. Then once they(USA) were there Saudi Arabia 'payed' the USA money to stay and protect them also from its enemies.,If Saddam had of succeeded it would have been catastrophy for the west and also Israel and even the middle east. I know its hard to listen to but the stronger power protected its own interest. Saddam failed!

  • @kocktoe I don't support what Bush did in Iraq, he went there for his own evil reasons & sent American kids to die for it, -he did not send his two alcoholic daughters. Saudi Arabia & Kuwait needed help against Sadam, US helped because of oil, no one else was willing &/or able to help: What other option did they have?

It's getting too difficult to return here to reply, click on my name & send me a message if you need to.

  • @KHALIIL01 I know what your talking about in Medina they defended Medina with the Muslims as they were resident of Medina with the Muslims it only make sense you would defend your home, they did not ask the help of an outside power to do their fighting for them, also there was a dispute between Kuwait and Iraq a legitimate one over an oil debt and sovereignty I wish it was resolved peacefully, but the fact that you support US intervention in Iraq is disgraceful, nowhere in Islam is it justified.

  • @kocktoe The Prophet(S.A.W.S.) had treaties with Jewish tribes to fight against pagan Arabs.

There are many places that were controlled by righteous Muslims that fell to the enemies of Islam & even if there were Muslims in Sadam's army, they were wrong to obey an enemy of Islam & Muslims to attack Muslims.
