Welcome to ZZreviews episode 37
Rhythm Zone has the same concept and the same gameplay as guitar hero so is it just another guitar hero clone?
No, Whilst Rhythm Zone has a few songs of it's own ranging from Rock to indie to techno to rap to abstract to metal and back again
there are no big budget bands in it. There are some good songs but how could it even survive with so few songs that are so unknown?
Well Rhythm Zone has one thing that Guitar Hero and Rock band doesn't have... An import funcion!
You can import any song into the game and it will be perfectly playable, now don't get fooled. The songs you import aren't anywhere near as well made as
the songs from Guitar hero or Rock band BUT you can still jam along to any song you want without any fuzz. Just import it, load it and play it!
Graphicly the game looks ok. There's no band playing in the background but it still has alot of nice visual effects and the presentation is of highclass.
Rhythm Zone uses ASDF for the notes and there is no strumming but you can put in any controller you want to so using a guitar hero controller is possible,
using the space bar you can toggle Focus power, which is basicly Star power but with a bit more focus in it.
The main gripe I have with the game is that you cannot import a whole disk or folder at once, no you have to import EVERY SINGLE SONG INVIDUALY! If it had
an import folder feature you could just import all the songs in your library and do something else whilst it imported, but now you're stuck with sitting
in front of your computer selecting a song, importing it, waiting for it to import, select the next song etc etc.
Score board time!
Gameplay: 6/10 The notes are a bit of on a few songs and on others it doesn't match perfectly but it still does it's job! You can also put in any controller
you want to, INCLUDING A GUITAR HERO OR ROCKBAND CONTROLLER!
Graphics: 7/10 The presentation is good and the game has a few nice visual effects, The menus have nice art too, no nice models of band members though.
Story: 0/0 You know the deal.
Sound/Music: 10/10 As you can import any songs you like it couldn't be better... or wait maybe if the standard songs where better overall but that doesn't
really matter when you can play your own songs.
Replay value: 8/10 Replaying the same song over and over again will award you with better scores, there's achivements as well...
Total: 31/40 It's a cheaper alternative to guitar hero AND it doesn't take any space at all unlike it's counterpart. It might not be of as fine quality but
it's perfectly playable and it's as fun as always!
Cya in the next ZZreviews bye!
