The guy interviewing is terrible.

Awesome great to hear the back story to the band.
-
the interviewer reminds me of the tall fat bloke with the dry toneless voice from The Office. otherwise nice insight

I saw them twice in the 1990s, once for 1992 then for Post historic Monsters. I saw them in the US, which was bitter sweet. When I saw them at Slim's in San Francisco there were only like 50 people there, I saw a lot of shows in the 90s, but that show at slims and another I saw in Palo Alto where two of the best most memorable shows I had ever seen, they were a brilliant fucking band. I love Jim Bob's solo stuff, just tough to find here in the states. Dumb And Dumber, such sad and sweet song.

@adorant what?!! Leigh was commenting on the working classes hardships in the eighties. Have you seen Meantime, High Hopes? These were done in the eighties before Carter Usm. Its more like Britpop was influenced by Leigh.

Great interview, nice to hear some back ground to Carter. Not much of it about.

Terrific interview - I think Carter's gritty realism and commentary on life and London definately laid the groundwork for Britpop's Mike Leigh-esque fascination with and romanticisation of, the working classes.
