I took my Garmin Nuvi 200w with me on a flight from Sacramento to Denver. it took few minutes to locate satellites but once it did, it worked fine.

  • Why don't the plane's wings flap like the Garmin display?

The best thing about using that on a plane is you are bound to get better triangulation with any of the several GPS birds that circle the earth than you ever will on the ground, unless the aluminum fuselage cover blocks those signals. A lot of people assume there is only one satellite as the Garmin display says "waiting for satellite".

  • @alwaysopen lol...I'm glad the wings don't flap like on the display. That might get scary. It seems to take a few minutes longer to lock onto satellites while flying, maybe because the plane is 9 times faster than a car? Or maybe it is the fuselage. That is true, other GPS devices I have used will tell you how many satelites it is locked onto.
