In the last years of WWII most German officers were nazis, as the regime got rid off all non-nazi officers, when the tides turned against Germany.

Not all germans exactly loved hitler or the nazi's, they were fighting for their country just like the americans, japanese, etc. This is what we call nationalism. Because of this nationalism the nazis were able to do unspeakable things, just like every other country was, and be able to get away with it.

Many if not most German soldiers of the Wehrmacht were fighting for Germany not the Nazis.

This does not surprise me. The winners write history. 93% of the army were Nazis? I don't think so. They fought wholeheartedly for their country and families. They were great soldiers and should be respected by everyone. THE WEHRMACHT WERE NOT NAZIS! QUIT REFERRING TO THEM AS NAZIS!
