Go to http://nuvideo.mindbites.com for the complete film featuring interviews with trainers, doctors, equipment experts, coaches and former college and NFL players .
The film debunks the notion that youngsters are mentored by well-trained coaches who are adequately constrained by laws and regulations.
Max Conradt, quarterback and 3.95 GPA student-athlete, receives a disabling traumatic brain injury literally under the noses of coaching staff. It documents how a child is allowed to play contact ball just days after sustaining a concussion.
Young students often play with disastrously sub-par equipment. Max was wearing one of several twenty year old helmets distributed to Waldport High School players.
Highlights include deposition testimony of Max's Waldport High School football coach, Donald Kordosky explaining away how he allowed a boy to play only days after suffering a concussion and without being released by a doctor.

  • i passed on the email

Thanks so much for interacting with him. He is quite lonely and salem has few activities for people in his situation

  • Max is your son? I was horrified and soooo saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad to read about Max's (unnecessary) brain injury during a high school football game, and the disgraceful lack of response, with not even a modicum of caring or sympathy, on the part of his coach. And for the OR legislature to remove from the bill two important regulations regarding the condition of football helmets is unbelievable, not to mention unconscionable. Someone should maintain: Then we shouldn't have a football team.

  • another reader:

'm so glad this issue is finally being put "out there" so that parents have the information that you and Ralf didn't. Just think how many kids you guys have saved by your diligence....Just so sad this wasn't considered a priority before Max and others were injured.

  • reader:Great press!! It was really good to see Max and his concern for others develop into spreading the word about safeguarding brains. Way to go, Max. And good work to you and Ralph for the incredible amount of time you have put in championing Max and preventing brain injuries. You should be pleased, and I am sure Max is thankful to have you as his parents.

  • another reader:Its so sad it has taken so long to bring all of this to a head. I hope the bill goes through. if the school programs depend on the popularity of the sports then they should spring for the best helmets made to protect those young lives. What a waste ... they are creating a throw-away community of kids by ignoring the hazards created by using old outdated equipment. Kudos to Ralph and Max for their efforts.

  • Interesting. First all funds go to the Max COnradt Special Needs Trust. If you care to contribute let me know and I will give you an address. The reporter told me DK really did not want to talk beyond the "He was like a son to me" comment. Heaven help his own son should he get injured. BTW, if Immactruth wants equal time in the film I will be happy to meet him. But cowards always cut and run.

  • I would not talk to you either, you just called him a dickhead.

  • that's just wrong................you blame everyone but who was really responsible, give it a rest and let the healing begin how long are you going to make max relive it???? yes he is a victim but by choices he made no one else.maybe because you've made a tragic accident into a circus??and for who?clearly not max .

  • I met Max today on his way to the gym and he walked me across the street. He told me about himself and what happened to him. He is such a nice person and I wish so much that this never happened to him, however he makes the best of it and is getting the word out about concussion which as an employee of the Red Cross I am thankful for. Please make sure you tell Max that Julie (who walked to sears) says hi and commented. :)

  • I do not appreciate getting comments to my profile telling me how much of a dumb F@#K Don Kordosky is, show a bit of maturity please and leave me out of your invitations. I do not live anywhere near Oregon and never have. My interest in this story and situation are for my reasons and I would prefer not have to deal with such blatant disregaurd for human decency.

  • wow flashback oh my god i havent seen max since was in the third grade in miss olsens class just after his accedent.

  • I understand one's angst, but all things happen for a reason. One must just forgive and go on. What happened, happened, find away to change standards on helmets and forge through life knowing that things could have ended far differently.

  • I dont plan of having kids, not that that is important. You have obvious never seen him at school. He is a complete DICK.. Every time he is on duty he just mean mugs the shit out of everyone. When he mugs me, i stair back. So is super, super intendent, principle, DR, Officer Don Kordoski planning on running for president to, sheesh. I really hate arguing with you on a youtube video based on a KID who got hurt playing football. How about you spend some time watching him and reply back after you do

  • SickDA if you ever have kids, like I do, you will hope that there is someone in the halls "bossing" them around. I have two children and I know for a fact that kids need constant repetition, constant guidance, and a firm hand. I would rather my child get detention for hanging out in the halls, then to get away with smoking pot in the bathroom instead of being in class. You might see him as a dick, but I just seem him as one more set of eyes watching my kid, keeping um out of trouble!

  • Im so sick and tired you all getting up in arms over a coach. A 17 YEAR OLD BOY IS AN ADULT, HE HAS PARENTS ALSO. THE COACH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR A COUPLE DOZEN PLAYERS WHILE ON THE FIELD, NOTHING ELSE! Stop being narrow minded idiots. Max isn't getting back the years that have passed, so the people involved should remember what their responsibility to Max and themselves was at the time. Shame on everyone for being less then what God wants from us, FORGIVING!

  • I can't help but wonder if the kid had taken the time to tell anyone besides his girlfriend and friends he was having headaches who would be getting blamed. You don't want to blame Max because he was the victim, that is understandable, but he was 17 years old. He was old enough to know something wasn't right. His parents called a doctor, that was it, if they were so concerned before they should have taken him in, xrays/ct's/mri's all available for a reasone!

  • Actually to be more specific, he is a volunteer cop, a volunteer firefighter, super- superintendent, and principal of both the high school and junior high, he has is Dr. Kordosky now, he just finished getting his PhD. in Education. Its not bossing children around or un-needed BS if he is keeping them out of trouble and in their school work. I swear you people need to drop all if it.
