  • I just started planting bamboos back in June this year. It looks like you got MOSO.

  • Hi,

     What is MOSO? Thanks, Jerry

  • I think your bamboos are Phyllostachys Edulus(Moso) which is a kind of timber bamboo. I just started mine so I'm jeleous of what you have, and your neighbor should be thankful. If I was your neighbor, I would definitely let it take over my yard, and water it.

  • Hi, Thanks for the info. They are great bamboo. Thanks!

     Jerry

  • Wow! That sounds really interesting. Wonder if mine will ever get to that size. Keep warm up there. Jerry

  • Thanks! Jerry

  • bamboo shoots could be made into delicious pickles.

  • Are there any drought resistant varieties of bamboo? During the drought conditions Texas is experiencing several large and usually lush stands of bamboo used as wind brakes and for privacy cover have all dried up and turned khaki brown. Last week on a trip to East Central Texas I lost count of the parched stands of dead bamboo I saw along the way. If some significant rainfall occurs soon will any of these apparently dead and dying plants come back or are they a total loss?
