Thanks so much Teresa for the wonderful Tutorial on the shell hat.It is fantastic .
A whole new world is opening up for me now that I am learning how to crochet again after 30 years.Sop far I have only made different lap blankets for Hospice. I saw that you also have graphs for crocheting.I know how to read one in Knitting that I have done for tears and quilting. Is there a page or a video how to read the crochet graphs?
Hope my spelling is OK and Thanks again,
Happy Hooking Yoka

@tjw1963 Thanks! And I also wanted to say that you! I have somewhat of a self taught crocheter. One day I just bought a "teach yourself how to crochet" book and Ive been hooked ever since! Your instructions are always so great and thank you for the videos! They really helped me in the beginning when I was barely learning different stitches and trying to understand crochet directions. So again, thank you for all your help!

Hello,
I recently finished the beanie, but I used a chunky yarn and a size J crochet hook. And now I want to make the same beanie again in a slightly smaller size. I need the beanie to be about 2 inches smaller in diameter. Will using a smaller crochet hook work? And I was wondering how to determine about how much smaller of a crochet hook to use from a size J to get the beanie 2 inches smaller in diameter?
Any info is greatly appreciated!

@bdamposey A smaller crochet hook will work to make a smaller cap. Experience will help you determine different sizes. Other then that, there are to many variables such as different size yarn and hooks. Even the most experienced crocheter will run in to work being to large or to small at times.

How can I do it for a baby?
poeticallydeep 5 months ago
@poeticallydeep It can be made for a baby. You can use a smaller crochet hook to make a smaller cap. You will not use all the increase rounds either or it may be to big.

Well Theresa, I've crocheted 2 of your other beanies and the shell scarf, had no problem with them, but I can't make head nor tale of this beanie. I can't see what you are doing in relation to the rest of the round. I can't match the pattern up to the video. I reeeeally wanted to make this, but it's 2 am where I am, and I have to concede defeat after nearly 4 hrs at it.

@JazzDanca The written instructions are posted on my crochet blog. This is a challenging pattern. It is worked by increasing over 2 rounds. One rounds sets up the increase stitches by working smaller shells. The next round continues with the increase stitches working the full shell.
