Using the Inventory Droid software on my Droid phone to keep track of our food storage.

This software package costs $4.99.

I modified the software a bit through the settings feature. I am only tracking Quantity, UPC codes, Reorder Quantity, Calories Per Serving, Servings Per Container & Ounces.

When you scan a bar code it will search the internet for the information on the scanned product. It will give you options whether it has been scanned before. The previous scanned option allow you to increase or decrease the quantity. This option gives you a quick way to keep up on inventory levels.

It allows you to set categories for each product.

The new Reorder field I setup allow me to export the data to excel and filter the products that we are short of and take the print out to the store.

The calories per serving and servings per container lets me export to excel and calculate how many calories we have on hand. This allows us to know how long our storage food will last us.

It took us 4 days (8-12 hours) to scan our 2 years worth of survival storage food into the system.

  • Alright, for anyone who cant read, he is doing this for when SHTF, not the end of the world. He is doing this so when prices sky rocket to 18 freaking dollars for a box of cereal or when they tax everything, he is preparred. This is actually pretty smart because with all the "terrorist attacks", they are gonna wanna have "better protection" so taxes go up even more. This is not literally for the end of the world.

  • @BigT9708 Thanks BigT. It gets old explaining this over and over again. I know that there are others out there like me that get it...

  • Can you put the price in so that you could compare the price of different stores?

  • @thruhiker87 Nope. The software allows you to enter the purchase price but not from multiple vendors.

  • I am wondering a few things. 1 when SHTF how do you plan to access your phone? is there a way t print it ff at some point and move to pen and paper? also can you inventory non bar code inventory. for instance if I have 100 quarts of home canned green beans and 3 cases of store bought is there a way to manually add non bar code items? currently I use and excel spread sheet then print it off once a month as a back up.

  • Yeah right, when SHTF your iPhone is still gonna work ;-)

  • Oh hello! Have you ever tried intellectus 424 diet (do a search on google)? Ive heard some great things about it and my father lost a lot of weight with it.

  • use pen and paper

  • can you set it to warn you before items expire?
