This is some of the worse decision making by a referee by not stopping this fight about 7 punches sooner. Hurtado was defenseless and had he not fallen in between the ropes, it would've kept going....

Even Lampley at that point could not imagine that Whitaker will go against De la Hoya throwing not only less punches than he did against Hurtado but at times not throwing punches at all. Unfortunately the brilliance of Pernell was overshadowed by Tyson, then Roy Jones and Tito. He was just the best boxer ever in the wrong division at the wrong time.

Well in the 11th it defo. was.Thats what makes this fight special,an aging master pullin out all the stops(bearing in mind Whitaker was a defensive master)to insure one more big pay day
