Hello strittan, to solve your discussion about our Mercedes Pro Stock Dragster. The car was build in 2006, in that time Mercedes Benz was the owner of the Chrysler Company - they merge to the Daimler-Chrysler Company. Our has a Chrysler HEMI engine, therefore the manufactorer of the engine and the body are belonging to the same company. From this it follows, that our car is absolutely following the NHRA rules. Our car has, just like the US ones, a FIA certificate. Dennis

i see what u mean but half the thrill for me is the fact the the FIA is constantly playing catch-up with the NHRA. i mean, when Urs Erbacher took his fueler over to Pamona 2 years ago he got to the semi finals in a car already 3 years out of date. and at the european finals in september Top Methanol Dragster ET and speed records were broken in ALL elimination rounds apart from the final, the same in pro stock motorcycle... thats what i live for

i still doubt it, even if they were given the money the strict regulations would make it impossible to make them as fast as the americans, that's what I think anyway. Especially the "Volvo" engine, since it's so small and has a 60 degree angle instead of the classic 90 degree.

Even though they would go as fast, and even though I'm swedish and live only about 10 miles away from a drag strip, I would still like NHRA a lot more than FIA, simply because it's bigger, better, faster and tighter.

i agree, not because european engines dont have the potential (because european manufactures make cars that can hang with american V8's even tho their engine sare much smaller) i strongly believe if as much money was invested over here we'd easily catch up but i can only dream i suppose. And yes it is a yamaha V8 but as volvo use it (and paid good money for the use of it) in their vehicles, they also have the right to use it in pro stock as it technically does not break and FIA Regualtions

Ok, but they will never be near as fast as the american cars. Also, it's strange, because Volvo has not manufactured a V8. The V8 Volo uses is manufactured by Yamaha...

im not trying to start an argument coz as long as you love drag racing your a friend in my book, but ive been invovled in drag racing all my life and i really do know what im talkin about. im not just some youtube bigmouth shit chatter. sorry if i came across a little hostile, its just my passion for draggin! peace

fella, both the Mercedes and Vovlo pro stock cars have mercedes and volvo engine blocks and just like the cavaliers and the cobalts they cannot exceed 500ci. when i said they are not doing as well it is because unlike the chevy and pontiac

engines they bring over from the states, the mercedes and volvo engines have had a lot less money put into them as they have been developed independantly due to Drag Racing having a much smaller following in Europe and therefore less sponsor money to spend

No, they obviously do NOT follow the NHRA rules, as the NHRA rules says the engine must be manufactured by the same company as the body.

they do indeed follow NHRA rules my friend, however... as its the EUROPEAN championship it makes perfect sense to have European manufactures cars racing in the class. there is a mercedes and a volvo pro stock team in europe but obviously they do not do as well at present due to lack of funding to research how to get mroe power out of the cars. but think about it this way, it may seem strange seeing the mercedes there, but non of the other cars we see in pro stock in europe are actually sold here
