Caanoo First Impressions (GP2X Caanoo)

The new GP2X Caanoo has made its way into my loving arms. It just arrived, and I've made a video of my first run through the menu and some of the games. As far as my first impressions go, I really like the form factor. On first impression, the Caanoo comes off as a man's version of the Wiz. would you recommend the wiz or caanoo? the wiz is like 50 bucks cheaper right now...

@Geoffernaut I think both are good. I like the Caanoo better, but I think it's subjective. $50 is a nice difference, though. It's a tough call.

@cfc2ngpc well from what i hear is that the OLED screens on the wiz have some screen rot after awhile so it might be worth it to pony up and get the caanoo. it's just kind of upsetting they went with a stick :(

@Geoffernaut Well, that OLED screen is nicer, except for the weird diagonal issues it has. So, again, a tradeoff. Crisp with faults, or basic without. The joypad is similar. I like the feel of the Caanoo stick, but it is analog. Then, do you like the compact size of the Wiz or do you prefer the feel of a little bit larger/substantial machine? All preference stuff.

I'm having trouble getting games from fungp site,i try to download free games but it won't let me,when i try to download it keeps on asking for installing missing plugins,how can i solve this problem.

Games like :

Mushihimesama , Street Fighter 3rd strike , Jojo Adventure , Time crisis , Turtles in times , Violent Strom , New Dopancphi games 2000 and higher , basically any Mame game that is higher than 1995 or 2000...

thanks for the review...btw how well does it play mame games? ive been trying to play mame roms on my psp and its really laggy, and if i were to get this thats the main thing ill be using it for...im talking like can it play marvel vs capcom or can it barely run pac man lol

I got my Caanoo yesterday and first impressions are good.

I was going to get Wiz a while ago but got put off by the screen tearing (thats mostly fixed) but then i found out about potential for screen rot so gave it a miss.

I think once Software Support and Dev scence gets used to and ajusts to the Caanoo it would be the best system next to the Pandora.

Maybe they will release a newer Caanoo where they can add a D-Pad aswell as keep analog and move 1-2 buttons on the other side near a,b,x,y

@cfc2ngpc the screen has issues? man. i mean the caanoo looks really nice its just i feel like the analog will be a little awkward on games meant for a dpad. also the larger size sacrifices some portability.
