I wanted to "thumbs up" this comment, but I can't! I love Kiri singing Strauss lieder, it's some of her best! Her and Georg, simply magic! You are right about her beautiful luscious voice. I don't understand how anybody could not think this is the most beautiful voice on the planet!

Solti's a terrific accompanist with other singers, and his playing here is absolutely beautiful. But you're right to imply he's leading rather than following. She's totally in love with him, deeply awed by him, almost to the same extent she was with Bernstein in West Side Story.

Gorgeous voice, lovely singing, the greatest accompanist - however, did we all notice the way Kiri jumped a couple of bars at the end - came in early at the end - the first "Wie einst im Mai." Makes all aspiring professionals feel good about their own gaffes.
