I know a lot of the comments here are old, but anyone reading this should know: recently, as in 2011, he's been doing the high notes on iris again. He sounds as good as he ever did.

I was sitting in the hard rock cafe in punta cana waiting for this to play on the t.v's they have in there and it never did, i was so disapointed:( x

The nodules don't neccessarily affect your range, it is if you have them taken out you should not speak for bout 6 weeks, read somewhere that he had his taken out so my guess would be that he didn't let his voice recover properly and so it changed. (smoking def doesnt help either) It's actually happened to a couple of well known singers as well. Still GGD's rock, wish had a chance to see them live b4 01-02 as well!

They used one of the very few bands that sounded better live then on a CD.
Im just glad i saw them live when i did, back in '99 & 2000

he still sounds great now, just some of the older songs don't suit his voice or range anymore, and im a big goo goo dolls fan, i must say it is quite a shame how his voice changed but hey, he's human just like us.

my guess would be aging, and cause of his smoking, if you notice the time this song was written, his voice started to change into what it is now, if you watch vids of this song in 2000-2001 his voice was transisting to what it is now, this song was pretty much a one shot deal for his vocals, he could sing it exactly on key now and it just wouldnt sound the same, cause hes aging plus other people say he has vocal nodules, which lowers your vocal range some depth.
