A Nebuta float made its way to Yasukuni Shrine during the Mitama Festival in July 2006. Dancers called haneto danced in front of the float followed by taiko drummers and other musicians. The float even went through the shrine gate at top speed. Photos here: http://photoguide.jp/pix/thumbnails.php?album=338
This is not Tokyo, but Kashiwa! You can read the kanji of Kashiwa city on the back of their outfit.
I was in Kashiwa matsuri last night. ^^
Kashiwa rules! :)
