  • There's no way for me to know what business actually got the Roto-Sphere. Milks business cards only show which sign shop these signs were shipped to. I'd love to know if you find out anything. I'm traveling right now so I don't have the info in front of me. But if you want, I can look up the sign shop when I get home (another week).

  • You're very welcome! One of the high points of 2007 for me was meeting and getting to know the history of these signs. It's a miracle that these bits of film were saved -- and my pleasure to share them with the world. Photos of these signs just don't do them justice.

  • This is very cool plus it freaks me out at the same time.

My dad always said these signs (as seen at BBFs in West Virginia in the 60s) would give you the "heebeegeebees," whatever that was.

  • Fabulous film!!!

  • Is this from an old home movie? I was intrigued by an insight, from your website, which indicated that these may have been inspired by an old animated opening to "Playhouse 90". I had seen that opening on here, and I just favorited it, because it always looked cool.

  • i gotta correct my self the one at the laundry mat was a nock off tinker toy look alike

  • thier was one at the old KMart in clarksville, indiana. a laundrymat in that day. also one across the river at albert pik motel along I 65. and one at dixie manor shopping center.. I wish we could reproduce these here and keep the dollar here in USA..

  • Your map claims one of these was shipped to Seattle. I live just outside Sealle - if only I knew what business got it. I'll have to drive out old Highway 99 one of these days and see more of the old motels.

  • Amazing signs and spinning rotospheres. What a treasure you have here! Thank you so much for sharing these rare films.
