Actually the post above gives a great, succinct example of negative reinforcement. Your definition is on the right track, but awkwardly worded.

Wow! We really do need to talk more! As I stated, I'm a wee bit tired, being like 50 freakin years old and stuff! I would be happy to show you more of my art! Next morn, a couple mochaccinos and I'll have fingers a flying!!!

I thought that negative reinforcement was the taking away of a negative stimulus? being yelled at would be punishment, negative reinforcement would be taking away homework from a student who did something good

Nope...punishment would be something like spanking whereas negative reinforcement is an event whose reduction or termination increases the likelihood that ongoing behavior will recur.

I wish I could see more of your face.
Behavior Modification! Works great with kids and dogs!!
Well, enough of that. I am very curious as to why you make these videos. I think they are great and you're probably helping a lot of people.
Military terms?? Experience?? I have a son in the Marines.
I'm not sure about your ideas of "exposure therapy". I'm afraid it won't work for everyone!
Ah! The teacher!!!! Must have made an impact.
Here's a real good book: "The New Guide To Rational Living".

The face portion is a result of the webcam on my laptop, not the most flattering lighting lol. I make these videos to help steer the people who are looking for a possible explaination for the things that they are feeling, but aren't sure if they should seek help. I know military terms, and tactics, etc. I don't have actual experience, as much as I would like to get some. I cannot inflict that on my family. The ideas on exposure are from psychology, proven facts, I'm just passing the info onwards
