  • brings back old memories.I let a loud mouth trainee learn some respect bout the truck. All the way from Chicago shes running her mouth about how she can handle a truck( driving for about 3 weeks)...No man could tell her what to do in a truck..we argued..I tried to get her sent back home, She went down cabbage loaded, trying to hold it back between 55 and 65..I sat with the door cracked..the singing stopped half way down..She smokd the bearings, and was crying,,i went into that rest. and ate..

  • That's freakin' hilarious. It's a pretty good hill!!

  • I went through this on my very first load, it was under 10k pounds, i'd never forget this part of the trip!

  • I don't drive trucks, but I drive Cabbage a lot. I NEVER come down Cabbage without my eyes constantly looking in the mirror. I've seen too many of you truckers come flying off the bottom grade at 80 with the brakes rolling smoke. I don't want to get run over and I can't imagine how any of you would feel when a car won't get out of the way, or stops or slows in front of you and you can't stop.

  • Lost a very good friend and co-worker yesterday. Mile Post 223. 1:27 into the video. Nicest guy in the world. Driving a 2010 Dodge Pickup and rear ended a trailer being towed by a 2010 Peterbilt. Dont know the details yet but I suspect he was coming down the hill too fast and the Semi was going very slow. Right hand lane. State Police report states there was no evidence of hard braking. I have driven this road many times over the years and Cabbage takes lives every year.

  • I was born in Oregon but my dad was a preacher and I grew up all over the west. When we lived in Idaho, and went back to Oregon for family get togethers, I never felt like I was REALLY in Oregon until we made it down Cabbage Hill. Haven't been down that stretch of freeway in.... almost 30 years, but this video was like I was there yesterday. Thank you for the video.

  • I'm in training right now as a truck driver and Steve is right. Cabbage is worst than Donner. I went down it at 3am. Had to keep fanning the breaks because I went down in seventh gear and still kept gaining speed but I made it to Arrowhead truck stop and bought the "I Survived Cabbage" t-shirt. Next time I think I'll go down in sixth.

  • wtf r u talkin abt steve

  • I think its worst than Donner..ive been down Donner in the snow but not the patch..It can sneak up on and before u know it ..your in the shit...hell of a view..comiing out of portland at the top of the hill right at sun down I saw some kids with the Bonfire going..just a nice ride across...
