Werrason ayembi na Papa Rochereau, concert kitoko na elengi. My dad used to sing this song all the time cuz id one of the best of Rochereau. Maison Mere toujours likoloooooo
Rochereau and Dr Nico were members of Kalle Kabaselleh's African Jazz. They both left the band to form African Fiesta. After they left African Jazz, the band started its journey downhill. Unfortunately, African Fiesta split into two: African Fiesta National (le Peuple) marshalled by Rochereau, and African Fiesta Sukisa led by Dr Nico. Nico's Sukisa became moribund after a while leaving the stage for Rochereau's African Fiesta National (later renamed Afrisa International) and Franco's OK Jazz.
Yes you are right, he is certainly one of the greatest singers. he will kill me for not listing him among the top 3 as I met him personally and he spent a weekend in my home in California. But, what can I say....
well, my brother I concur. I am not, of course, talking about composition power. We all know that Tabu Ley was/is a great arranger, composer etc etc...but i am talking about the SINGER, THE VOICE that has left an indellible mark on Congolese music. in my opinion, Sam Mangwana comes close to being one of those stars. he has an incredible voice!
