And in the end this is a cost to all of us, we're losing out on potential genius, because some people don't want to lose their privilege. Basing society on privilege and wealth leads to the triumph of mediocrity.

It suppose to be that way, its by design. School is not for learning, its for conditioning. The deadlines, mundane and repetitive work that involves low brain memorization skills is all to make kids into wage slaves. The elite ruling class needs worker and corporate monkeys and school is a good way to filter out those that obey and don't think from those who do. Those who don't think will go to College and end up indentured for life and slaves to a system that is beyond their control.

Individual needs and tastes differ, as appetites differ. It is equal opportunity to satisfy them that constitutes true equality... Far from levelling, such equality opens the door for the greatest possible variety of activity and development. For human character is diverse. ~Alexander Berkman

So as you can see, it's about making sure every individual has equal access. You don't find the fast runner by having most kids run from the start line and the wealthier ones 10 metres from the finish line

equality does not mean an equal amount but equal opportunity... Do not make the mistake of identifying equality in liberty with the forced equality of the convict camp. True anarchist equality implies freedom, not quantity. It does not mean that every one must eat, drink, or wear the same things, do the same work, or live in the same manner. Far from it: the very reverse in fact... (cont)

It doesn't matter what inherent genius someone may possess, if they don't have access to the environment where they can express it, then it won't be seen. That's the point of egalitarianism, as Alexander Berkman put it. (cont)
