Does anyone know the name of the singer standing directly behind Joe Yawn? I've posted a recording of The Brooklyn Allstars when they came to Huntsville, Al. in 1985 with Rev. Spann leading this song. I believe the singer behind Joe was the first tenor on that program. The late Paul Owens was the second/lead singer, and Timmy Spann was the baritone. Check it out. It was a very touching program. Rev. Spann does a wonderful job on the lead.
I miss these guys. I wrote and produced two songs on the TWO SIDES TO THE ALLSTARS CD . "STEAL AWAY and FINALLY GOT MY LIFE ON TRACK. Johnny Burwell and I did all the music on that cd. R.I.P. Joe Yahn Gerald Jones
Now this is what I'm talking about... OMG... This is some real singing and you can hear the lyrics and not all that loud music.... Thank you for posting and if you have more would love to see them.
I've loved this song since I first heard Hardie Clifton sing it. Rev. Spann has done a wonderful job in finding singers who can sound like him. However, I believe Joe Yawn not only has the sound, but the passion. Pettiford does this song good, too. I also have a rare recording of Rev. Spann leading this song. They came to Huntsville, Al. when I was in college. Hardie had just had his heart surgery and didn't male the trip. It brought tears to my eyes. You could tell his heart was with his friend
