  • Ok, but they're the DR-1 are all 3/4 scale aren't they, not full 1:1 scale?

  • @ChicaWolverina . I beleive they are all full size replicas, the originals were not big aircraft, check out the full size specs. wingspan is 23 ft 7 3/8 in (7.19 m) ...

  • Fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing.

Even though most may not be orginals (were there any?) this video is just unbelievable.

  • No I don't think these planes were originals, although they do get some very rare originals at this airshow. There are some very good accurate replicas.

  • There's another airshow there this easter I believe. I was looking at a tour that included 3 days at the show and a brief tour of the highlights of the South Island.

  • This year the big Easter airshow is at Wanaka. Still South Island New Zealand. Should be a good show.

  • I love the seeing the scarf fluttering in the wind. It's like a scene taken right out of history. Great video!

  • Nice show, one of the best 58.

  • I've always adored WWI fighter planes, my favourite being the Fokker DR.I, followed very closely by the SE5a! Recently I too got to see the Fokker in action, because there was a historical Aircraft show here in Germany, not far from where I live. The sound alone gave me the shivers and to see the amazing maneouvers these things are able to fly was nothing short of spectacular. Thank you so much for sharing this, so I got to see them again^^

  • @sickbuffalo Except for the DR-1 replicas all of the 'Fokkers' in the "Blue Max" were WW2 de Havilland Tiger Moth Trainers.

  • @Kahu1958 The only two remaining DR-1s were on display in Berlin and were destroyed by Allied bombing during WW2. I feel the best part of the collection, was the creation of Wingnut Wings 1/32 scale models in Welington. They are inexspensive and beautifully done.

  • Here come the Fokkers! What a statement! :)

  • AWSOME!

  • Remarkably beautiful machines. i would loveee to fly one!
