The interface is so intuitive that I never had to to look at the instructions to get up and running. This device is truly plug and play, great work Seagate!
There are several things I liked about the Seagat GoFlex Satellite especially its very intuitive easy to use interface that auto categorized my content. I also appreciated that I did not have to load any software to access the GoFlex Satellite and that it worked on any wireless device that supports 802.11 connectivity. Finally, a 500 GB hard drive provides a ton of space to host your own personal multimedia cloud service.
There were a few things about the Seagate GoFlex Satellite that could be improved but the good news is these can all be address with a firmware upgrade that I hear is already in the works. The first is the lack of support for playlists for your music files. This seems a bit counter intuitive for a device sporting 500GB considering how much music the GoFlex Satellite can hold. The second one is the inability to act as a wireless bridge instead of a stand alone AP which means you have to give up your internet connection while streaming from this device. For movie watching this is no big deal, but for music or documents the ability to listen to your 250GB music library while replying to e-mails on the train into work does limit the value a bit. Apparently Seagate is trying to add this particular feature to the next release of firmware.
Legit Bottom Line: The Seagate GoFlex Satellite is very innovative way to expand the capacity of all your mobile devices with true plug and play simplicity. If you like the idea of having your own personal 500GB cloud service to carry around your vast multimedia collection this is a great solution!

Nice review! Thinking about buying one because of it. But does the video files have to be mp4 to stream to iPad? Or can they be avi. I'd appreciate a reply. Thanks
