1994 Mazda Protege 1.8L running rough at idle, runs rough, hesitation

Any car that has a (MAF) Mass Air Flow sensor depends on that sensor heavily to make it run good. So on this 1994 Mazda Protege with a 1.8L engine the visual inspection found the hole in the air intake tube. Easy fix, customer even did it himself. Yes I had the same problem on a 94 Protege some 10 years ago. It would lurch like crazy cus the motor was moving back and forth opening and closing the hole..My solution..Duct tape its worked great for 10 years..No I apear to have a manifold leak (or mass sensor problem), so I replaced the duct tape as a precaution..all looked good though.

I have a rough idle/low idle problem and saw a hairline crack after the MAF. I had no idea it caused those problems. Thank you for posting!
