@designtoad Clinton's recession??? HAHHAHA he was the only president in recent times to have a surplus when he left office, and the economy was booming
Republicans love to spout off about capitalism, but who's capital are you talking about? Republicans took taxpayer dollars to Iraq and constructed social programs to help Iraqis become more like us. Social programs Bush said was to encourage democracy, not a a Republic. That was United States taxpayer dollars used as capital in social programs constructed by a lot of private business. How in the world does the GOP get off complaining about spending money on social programs for health here?
*****bbbbbbbrrrrrring*******"hi, nice people. I'm the new Republican doll. Turn the crank and me and my automaton friends from governmentland here will entertain you with a song entitled Me And The GOP Hope You Stay Out Of Work (So We Can Get Elected). This is a recording.
There's a very fine line between radicalism and stupidity. You're falling for the hysterical, exaggerated, irresponsible drivel coming out of the far right fringe, and that's nothing to brag about. Europe is doing MUCH better than we are in many respects. I know this because I've lived there, and I can tell you, again, that you have NO CLUE of what you're saying. It's very convenient to repeat the nonsense you hear from others instead of doing your own research. Educate yourself, bud.
@armyveteran101st: if Ayn Rand is a radical then I am proud to be one too. Thank you so much. Long live Capitalism. It will build the world and let socialism destroy it like it is doing to Europe at this very second. I hope you enjoy Youtube...another gift of Capitalism and your computer too.
dwigg, all I can reply to you is that if you're getting your social science information from fictional tales like Ayn Rand's, you're in trouble. I know conservatives love Ayn Rand's writings, because they provide a measure of foundation for the hysterically paranoid musings of the far right. You really need to open your eyes and drop the ideological zeal that keeps you and others like you from appreciating reality as it is. That's all I can say to you, in view of your apparent radicalism.
@starraider113 - Now I get it -- you see, I thought we were talking about history, facts, and reality. But I guess we're talking about contemporary politics. You're "right wing" and "conservative" and "Christian" (by, the way, I'm Christian too) and are unfomfortable that Naziism--the epitome of evil in the modern mind--was also "right wing" and "conservative" and that the churches frequently capitulated to the Nazis (though, of course, there were many who did not and were martyred).
Once the leftist, socialist wing was thrown out of the Party, again beginning in the second half of the 20s and culminating in 1932 (think of the Strasser brothers), in what possible way could the NSDAP be called "socialist"? They were, after that point, quite literally, SINOs.
@starraider113 - When you claim that "Germany was run like the Soviet Union", you presumably mean socio-economically. Though, while it's true that both the Nazis and the Soviets were strongly opposed to liberalism, the USSR was built on Marxist-Leninist ideology, to which Hitler was no sympathizer. The Nazis by no means sought a classless society or to abolish private ownership. And you write of the 25-Punkte-Programm (from 1920) as though points 11-18 weren't ignored beginning in 1924-1928.
