It's not easy trying to convince McPei (meaning "Buckwheat"), one of our two lionhead bunnies, that he is due for his bimonthly manicure. He thinks he's a dog and can scare us off by barking "woof woof" and pretending to bite!

  • it does take time to adjust, and different rabbits adjust differently. if you keep them in a cage, they are far more likely to charge you when you approach. a home made bunny condo or pen is a much better choice. you can make them with the metal wire squares, sold at Target, i think. my rescue rabbit didn't even need to be litter trained. he just did it naturally, and so there was no reason to have any enclosure. of course you have to bunny proof your house/apartment.

  • @morganzable thanks... McPei (and Parsley) were in a pen - a pen equivalent to the size of our bedroom - making it necessary for us to "step in" for maintenance (cleaning and what not) and perhaps that made him feel like we were invading his "territory". This video was taken when he was very new to us anyways. he was more or less litter trained when he came altho we still kept no fewer than 3 litter boxes all over his pen for his choosing.

  • Bunnies who do that were abused earlier in life.

  • @aaardvarkkk awww :-( that's so sad. We adopted him from a nice young woman (who lived with her boyfriend when they first got the bunny). I believe they had bought the rabbit from a store instead of from Rescue - coz they actually ID'd the sex wrong and gave him an initial girl name. Wouldn't have happened with Rescue as they'd have proper vet services up front.

  • my bunny does that too even my dogs are afraid of him ;)

  • @MsGrimGirl wahahahahha that's hilarious!!!

  • My rabbit (poppy) dose this some times its nothing to with being mistreated in earlier life its do with the fact your moving to fast or they can't see your hand. Never ball your hand up its a sign of aggression and always touch the head first then the body. And don't associate being picked up with cutting nails only associate it with cuddles and spending time with you.

  • He doesn't think he's a dog... He thinks that he doesn't want you to touch him.

  • @emogirlhateful yeah lol xD

  • @imahappyMoo ikr? I was the only one who loved her TTwTT

  • My rabbit is sassy too! When she barks and smacks at me ( NEVER bites me! Hehe.) I trick her with treats and snatch her up to clip her nails.

  • @XxStardustStudiosxX yea that sounds pretty bipolar lol xD

  • You need to tell him off, he want it his way, got one who was the cutest little nutred male on his own, but as soon his female was around he tried to attack me and did bite me once, I started telling him off, not shouting but a firm NO, that stopped him in his track, then just put my hand in to fix stuff, as soon he attacked he got a NO, when he was nice I scratched him behind his ears, He stopped now you don't need 3 toilets make sure to remove smell with Rodalon, works on carpets and floors,

  • @aaardvarkkk no they are just territorial geesh some see abuse everywhere

  • @pettraining2610 Same with mine only my guinea pig doesnt charge. He just bites and runs away
