One of the reasons I am drawn to the India films is exactly because they were not like the Western culture. I have seen the industry changing gradually to more of the Western culture, and I really wish they wouldn't. I like a few crossover films, but really, I love seeing the Indian films because they ARE Indian, like Umrao Jaan, Mughal-e-Azam, Shree 420, Devdas, etc. The beautiful voices of the playback singers, male and female. Touches ones heart with emotion; so refreshing.

I love Great India , Indian culture, people, songs & films because they are the best in the world ,unfortunately the Indian movie makers are trying to change their beautiful style in order to catch up with Western culture. To do that they're changing our great culture to western style and destroying Beautiful Indian - Pakistani culture. @onlystar786 The actress in the song is Rekha. The real Umrao Jan was a courtesan of Lucknow in the 1840s and 50s. She was from a good family, but was kidnapped and sold to Khanum Jan, the Madam of a brothel, at a young age. She told her life story to Mirza Muhammad Hadi Ruswa, a renowned Urdu author, who novelised it. The movie is a relatively accurate (if slightly abridged) version of the novel.

rekhas acting is much more real and sincere than ashes in my opinion, at times ashes acting seems fake. older actors acted way better back than, even tho im only 25. lol. i was a baby when this came out, but i still perfer older actors.
