Thanks, saxman. You are one of those who consistently comment on my vids, and I appreciate that a lot. Yeah, Agman threw us all a curve there, eh? Kinda freaked me out a little bit. I think it's great, and I'm glad he's back in action. I wonder if it will make him more or less agressive than before.

Isn't it crazy though. I teach in a public high school in the USA and I feel the same way. If I was to be out with my stance, I would be ostracized and probably treated like a freak and lose my job. All of the staff, faculty and students are fundies and then the head office or board of ed for our county is all fundies too. Out of 12 science teachers, I am the only atheist. Pretty sad stuff.

I wonder if any of those other 12 science teachers are closet atheists.

One is on the fence and he is the only one who knows my stance. He hangs on a skinny thread of vestigial woo. I know the other ten are deep into the woo. They even do the 'God of the gaps' crap when they teach anything that sounds anti-bible. Our head of science for the whole county is major league fundie.

Probably millions are in a spot with not being able to come out to coworkers or friends or bosses. It's persecution at it's finest. I have already felt some animosity from some of the admin after I complained of a teacher using our email system to send a warning to everyone to not let their kids see 'Golden Compass' because she heard it was blasphemous. We are not supposed to use mail for personal or sales stuff. I complained to admin that the person should be told to cease.

You were right to complain saxman, that's a real case of religion interfering in state education. The resources of a school should not be used for religious purposes. I would hope that the person involved was reprimanded & all staff were reminded of what their position within the school was-for education only! :)

Nope, nothing was said to her or reprimand given. When our staff sits for a meal at any time during the yr, we are lead by admin with Grace before we eat. It makes me ill. I attended a State dept of ed conference with 3000 attendees and a pastor went on stage to say Grace to all in the hall before our dinner!!! I was stupified and major league pissed. I saw many Muslims in the audience as well. I'm sure they were not happy.

I'm stunned. I'd probably look for another job in a different school, tho it's probably not going to be easy in your position depending on what part of the country you live.

This is public school in NC, rural and poor with about 99%(est) fundie xtian. I enjoy the weather but the religious nutjobs are getting to me big time. If it wasn't for my semi-atheist friend/coworker, I would have maybe changed jobs. I love teaching and have lots of education to help me get the job done, but the frustration is severe. Add to that, the lack of work ethic from the students is pretty bad and equally frustrating. I think some of my kids are questioning their past indoctrination.
