He told us that if a Bull didn't have a nasty big ugly growl at the start of its Bugle..he wouldn't even pursue it with his clients. He also said that as you get more experienced (which I have a bit now) you can start to tell by the sound of the growl just how impressive a Bull is. He said to hardly ever use a big growl at the start of our calling as it will scare some other nice Bulls away from coming in as they know that only a Big Bull growls harshly at the start of a Bugle

He taught us how to know what type of Bull is talkin back to you so you can make an informed decision on whether you want to pursue the Bull further or go for another depending on the calibre of Bull you are lookin for.
There are exceptions to the rule, but for the most part:
If a Bull answers with:
a whistle Bugle...it is a young Bull.
a whistle Bugle with a growl at the end its a Satalite Bull
a Growl at the start of Bugle and at the end its Big and probably the Dominant Bull you want

Not a problem, glad to share in your great adventure.
Years ago I was up in the Rocky Mountains on an Elk and Mule Deer hunt where I also had Limited Entry Draw for a Mountain Goat (Which I did manage to harvest a nice Billy) and I had the pleasure to meet an ole timer Elk Guide who never uses any bought calls...he made his own tube and used his voice...amazing Man and incredible caller. I learned more about Elk Calls and Calling from him..it was awesome.
What a wonderful experience to get to have the young hunters out with you while you demonstrate quite effectively how to make it happen on a Do It Yourself Hunt.
Sorry to hear you fell ill, but glad you had so much success.
I'm sure you have made a memory for yourself worth big bucks and possible one of the better memories for the boys to take with them on all their future adventures.
Nice work guys...nice work.
Great footage.
Kewl hunt.
