The Interactive helmet from the Exertion Games Lab at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia is a research project to explore how interactive technology can support exertion activities such as cycling. In other words, we hope our helmet makes cycling more fun!

Wondering how you powered the helmet? Obviously using batteries, but are they mounted in the helmet of does the rider have to wear them? What sort of run time does the helmet get? I've never been able to work out how people make such things with so many LED's seemingly running with very little batteries :/.. Do you have a blog or anything that gives more details about it? Thanks

For me, it is the beauty of using it as an indicator for bikers at night. In which case it may be too bright, but still a great way to rethink biking. Bravo!

Cool helmet but it doesn't seem like the music is synced up with the helmet in the video early on, then it cuts to a different part at 0:44.

Cute, but unworkable in a real world situation unless all the parameters are adjustable to mimic full head motion and dampen accordingly. I ride fixed wheel and am no pussy when it comes to tackling the street and I don't see how this would cope above anything less than a leisurely crawl with only very specific head movement. I'm forever looking in all directions to keep ahead of the game/survival rate. It needs more real world feedback than lonely back streets, but hey... nice idea.
