...No...not all super robots combine. See Mazinger, the very first super robot, which doesn't combine. And some real robots combine, like the Victory or Impulse Gundam.

Think of it this way. Super robots are superheroes, real robots are soldiers. Super robots have abilities that defy explanation, though sometimes the plot will explain it. Real robots usually go to lengths to make it somewhat scientifically plausible.

over the top robot cheesiness. The most outrageous science fiction element are the breasts in this series. They defy reason and physics.

acrtually the line that separates super robots and real robots are that super robots combine and real robots have a more humanoid shape its told in SRW OG for the GBA

@markverendia , the point of super robot stuff is to be, well, a SUPER robot. Do amazing stuff. It's a tradition Japan has held onto since the 70s. If you want realistic robots, you can watch Votoms or Patlabor or Macross or Gundam or another similar "real robot" show. This, super robot stuff,it's all hotblood manliness and shouting attacks and pure spirit. There's room for both.
