seriously, they had to do that to show that they were doing more than kissy, the couldnt do more back then, the scene was racy enough!

He included those fireworks because back then they were under restrictions and to show a kissing scene like that would have been considered too racy. So he used the "cliche" fireworks to get it by censors.
