Space Ace is a game for the Atari Jaguar CD that is in the same category as Dragon's Lair.
You play as Ace whose girlfriend has been kidnapped by the evil Borf!
As with Dragon's Lair, this game was originally on the long-dead laser disc format.
If you like these type of games and you have a Jag CD, you should be able to get it for pretty cheap.

  • How'd you get the footage? I thought the Jaguar CD always broke and never worked. James Rolfe and co couldn't fix one.

  • @ExcessiveSpareTime ah, yeah I heard about that review.

The Jag CD can be finicky at times, but had he done a little research on the popular jaguar fan forums he probably could have fixed them easily. Sometimes the spindle needs to be lifted, sometimes a couple wires come loose inside and sometimes they need a new (cheap) cd transport, which isn't too difficult to do.

With about $30 combined (MAXIMUM,) he probably could have fixed both of them. Might not have even cost that much.

  • this is proof the greatest gamers are from the 80's because early 80's games we're soooo hard.

  • I agree. Put this for XBOX Live and Wii.

  • I like this video. Anyway, at 1:43, you went to the scene where Dexter contacts Kimmy, but at 1:55, a death scene appeared. How did that happen?

  • this fucking game...

  • @ExcessiveSpareTime The Jaguar CD had a fairly limited production run, so I'm fairly certain what was out there was the only revision they had, though I could be wrong.

The only problems I've really heard about are the spindles getting pushed down too far when popping the discs in, laser transports gone bad, broken lid locks & wires coming unsaudered inside.

Most of that is just from daily wear... except the wires coming unsaudered, but that's fairly uncommon.

  • @viMasterJag

Really? 'Cause I've heard all kinds of horror stories about it, from "case closes too tight for device to properly run" to "parts completely failed after three days worth of crash-laden gameplay."

Were those something limited strictly to early runs, like the bad laser placements on early PS1s or just easy patches?

  • @ExcessiveSpareTime Also, I've only had 1 problem with my Jag CD -- the spindle just needed to be lifted up a bit with a butter knife and I've not had any problems since... that was 4 years ago.

  • @viMasterJag

Sorry. He's a filmmaker best known for his reviews as The Angry Video Game Nerd.

  • @ExcessiveSpareTime Who's James Rolfe?

  • lol on the spaceship cutscene, looks hard and he always crashes XD
