A quick update on some shiny new equipment I received, MenuMeters, and my future release schedule.

Does this macbook get hot as the macbook pro?

Haven't spent enough time with a MBP to give you a definitive answer. It gets warm, but I can rest it on my stomach without my shirt on without any major amount of discomfort.

That is correct - I did not have to pay for this machine. Apple paid for it and billed it to themselves because my old MacBook was having so many problems. Watch the video I put up titled "Repair Bills" for all of the details.

I notice you described it as having iLife '08, which I'm not really a big fan of. I recommend you switch back to iLife '06, because in my opinion, it just has a few important features that '08 got rid of, and although '08 is still pretty good, '06 is just a more solid experience. Anyway, just my two cents about it. Other than that, congrats on the new MacBook!

I think iMovie '08 is a step back. I downloaded the iMovie '06 disk image Apple provides to users of iMovie '08 who many not want the new version. I plan to continue using iMovie '06. I really like iPhoto '08 because I do have over 4,500 pictures in my iPhoto and the new way of oragninzing photos into groups is really helpful to me. This is my first full day really using my MacBook b/c I've been busy all week so I hope to report back soon on thoughts and impressions. Peace.

LoL, seriously I was kind of thinking about that. The hard drive that powered my old MacBook actually boots and works with this MacBook. Did a quick swap out, expecting to see insane kernel panics, but 10.4.11 on the old drive has just enough driver support to things run on the newer Penryn model. I might make a video showing it.
