That only happend coz it was rejecting your piercing.. its thinking "hmmm new wound not sopossed to be here.. so it will try and repair itsself quickly.. So it coverd over the skin.. Bacily pushing the bar out of ur skin.

wait...you think it's disgusting to have a medical professional make a tiny incision with their sterile equipment so you scratched a hole in your mouth with your grungy fingernails. *facepalm* excuse me if I don't see the logic. I think maybe you were just too embarrassed to see a dentist to take care of it for you.
In summary:
Clean scalpel = disgusting
Fingernails which may or may not be clean and are definitely not sterile = surgical grade cleanliness
