Just a simple video of my sample of mercury metal. There will be a video in the not-so-distant future of how I froze the mercury to a solid. Be sure to subscribe so you'll be notified when I upload the next mercury video and any other science/chemistry videos!

I created this channel for the sole purpose to help spread the interest in science, mainly chemistry. The decline of scientific interest in the United States is rather disappointing. After I cruised YouTube a bit I noticed all the other channels similar to mine and I thought about canceling this channel; however, after thinking about the decline of science, I decided to keep making videos until I just run out of ideas.

  • if you pour a layer of water over it, it would make it a bit safer and prevent mercury vapour

  • @AmatureChemist Keep on telling yourself that

  • God, I would like to thank you personally for making mercury. It is freaking awesome. Nice work.

  • I personally would have worn gloves with Mercury

  • lol, my dad used to play with this when he was a kid, spilled a few grams worth everywhere and he said it just vaporized when he remembered it a few weeks later. since he didnt have dry ice to harden it and clean it. I am sure this is great to breath (not)

Now I just need to figure out why I brought this up!

  • I can't be trusted with those sorts of things. I usually end up swallowing things , so liquid mercury probably wouldn't be the best gift for me.

  • so i thought this stuff was bad too be AROUND....is it or what? like i thought it was airbourne toxic...

  • If you spill it, you bead it up and use fingernails, index cards, or tape to pick it up and place it in its container. You could also react it with Sulfur and just sweep it up, but it's hard to recover.

Also, if your Mercury gets dirty, put it in a shallow glass/paper pan and run Scotch tape over the surface. Works great.

Lastly, thank you for the tip on where to get it. I've been looking for more.

  • @AmatureChemist if you do? lol

  • @AmatureChemist theres a vid of this dude holding mercury in his hand and playing with it x.x
