Feeding Ducks and Geese at Alvaston Park, Derby

This is the lake at Alvaston Park in the City of Derby, Derbyshire, England. A popular place for people to come and feed the large quantity birds.
Look out for the nasty Swan having a go at the Canada Geese about 2min 10sec.

I live in Canada now and haven't been back to Derby since '84 but I spent many a sunny day fishing on this lake when I was a kid. Also fished on the Derwent at the back of the park. Also remember the lake freezing over one year and my uncles walking over to the island in the middle. Once there was a duck swimming near the island and he disappeared with feathers flying around. I swear to this day that a big pike in the lake got him.

This place is an absolute disgrace these days, the lake is really dirty, the dirtiest I have ever seen it all my life. It stinks to high heaven and bird crap all over the place. It needs re-surfacing too. There also needs to be a warden of some sort to protect all the birds. The amount of times I have been here with my dog week in week out and seen kids throwing boulders and huge chunks of wood at ducks and their ducklings makes me so so angry. Definately needs a warden and some attention

Instead of building a new cafe here get the much more important things done first. I hear they are'nt doing anything to the lake after the cafe is built.
