Nearing the end of the semester one of the last things we do in Seamanship Lab is to head aboard the ship and learn how to drop the anchor. It's a fairly simple operation but everything is very heavy and shakes the whole bow of the ship.

  • @Carthrage Hahah, that's awesome. Yes we have a few strange hair styles abound.

  • I though this was Mass maritime...then I saw the Afro Kid...Nice vid

  • @SouthPortlandKK Seen your channel page, seems like you certainly have sufficient interest in the marine industry. You'll probably love MMA. Do check out the other maritime schools in New England though. Even if you're set on Maine it'll give you a better metric on what to expect at Maine. I prefer Maine out of all the other schools because the people are much more lax, polite, and eager to learn. If you're into Engine room work look at California Maritime, I've heard they have better equipment.

  • oh man! I want to go to MMA! Ive seen this ship a couple times!!!!! :D you sir, are awesome!

  • @dwie0121 Oh, you mean the lack of Hard hats, yeah they didn't issue such things that day. Oddly though for every other such evolution we had gloves and hard hats.

  • Lack of safety gear.
