i wouldnt say the family in this movie is extreme per se sure every family is different it depends on the family and their level of devoutness. i actually can very very much relate to this movie. :( however i dont think their disapproval of the relationship was totally about racial prejudice you also have to keep in mind that they were a long established family in the community and it was more about the shame of their son living together b4 marriage which is very much against their religion.

Very good movie with substance. I hope people don't perceive this movie as some sort of docudrama. The fictional Pakistani family in this movie is extreme. I don't think their reaction is typical. I have mates, both Pakistani and Indian, with gori wives and they're accepted into the families. I've never heard of any trouble.
