  • hi i am told that it is possible to get massive ac voltage out of an alternator by rewinding it some how.would you know as i am researching plasma ignition which requires a high as possible ac voltage thank you

  • car alternators only put out a dc current man

  • Alternators make AC current just like what comes out of the electrical outlet at home. Then they use a bridge rectifier with diodes to convert the AC current to DC current for the vehicles battery & electrical system

  • The leads that come off the stator are AC current. Most alternators have three sets of windings.

  • i was wandering in the inside is it all the same in cars or different cuz i am having problems with my car

  • How all alternators work are basicly the same but how they are put together may be different. Also some have internal voltage regulators and some have external voltage regulators. Some of the later alternators even work with the vehicles engine management computer to tell it to change fuel output based on how much load the alternator is putting on the motor. The higher output an alternator goes the greater load it puts on the motor.

  • You rebuild alternators like a boss!

  • thanks for posting

  • so if i want more amps, i replace with a bigger bridge rectifier?

  • Very good video. Thanks for posting.

  • Why are alternators AC if everything in a car is DC?

Don't you lose efficiency having to convert from AC to DC?

How much energy loss is there in the conversion from AC to DC?

  • where do i buy the parts for rebuilding alternator

  • Since alternators use a bridge rectifier with diodes to convert the AC current to DC current, can I just remove the bridge rectifier and then use the AC current that the alternator puts out to power home tools and light bulbs, etc.? If this is the case, what voltage would the alternator be putting out? Thanks in advance for a quick response. And thank you for this very informative video. Keep it up!

  • Awesome man. So helpful. Keep the bids comming

  • buy one

  • how do you know if regulator or rectifier did go?
