Most people just blog without much thought about whether their blog posts will get picked up and ranked by Google and other search engines. But there are some bloggers who want to make money from their blog site. If you fall into the "blogging for profit" category, here are a few blogging tips that will get you ranked and ultimately make you money for your efforts.

The first step in posting a blog that gets read is to find something interesting to talk about. Since my blog is on hair loss, an easy strategy for me is to think of famous people who have hair issues. The first person that comes to mind is Dr. Phil. Everyone knows Dr. Phil, but let me check out how popular he really is by going to Wordtracker's free keyword suggestion tool.

I type in "dr phil" and here are my results. I will look for a keyword term that is popular enough but has low competition. "ask dr phil" looks promising. It gets about 8 searches per day on Wordtracker. That's not a lot, but we are trying to rank on the first page of Google with as many articles as we can. Instead of going for a home run and using just the keyword, "dr phil", we'll try get small wins.

Let me show you what I mean. If you type in "dr phil" into Google, you'll get 6.8 million results. It is near impossible to get on the first page with that many competing results. On the other hand, if we type, "ask dr phil", we get 3,010 results. That is easier to rank for using our blog.

The next thing we need to do is to tie Dr Phil into a baldness keyword. The first thing that comes to mind here is what would I ask Dr Phil about baldness if I were on his show. I might ask him how to reverse baldness. I like this angle because there is something quirky about asking a bald man how to reverse baldness. Potential readers may want to read the blog article if I had such a headline or title.

Watch this YouTube video on how to blog for money and see the process that I use to get ranked on the first page of Google for my keyword. The best part was that Google ranked my blog post only 28 minutes after I published it! Who said blogging can't get you fast results?
