I wouldn't say they were overrated if you use them in the way you've described at the end, their attack is lethal so if you can get Yari Ashigaru or another weaker unit to take the casualties for them but then use the hero to cut into their lines then they're incredibly effective.

@DANGDanGall Wow thats handy advice right there but i was still learning at the time and always didnt think much of katana hero

I still dont use them much online because there so expensive but sometimes on large battles they can be kick ass.

I always save them for last as the other units are weakened and sending them in can cause pretty quick and large routes

@Ferditjuh Dude this comment is 2 months old, when the game was broken. Around this time you could spam 10 30 attack loan swords. DO you really think a katana hero that cost 1500 is worth it when you can spam 10 30 attack loan swords? NO! Now that the game is fixed katana heros are worth the money.

You seem to have no clue how to use katana infrantry.

If you walk your kat hero straight into the fire of matchlocks/hero arrows ofcourse they die.

If you let them get charged by cavalry ofcourse they die.

If they get outnumbered 10 to 1 ofcourse they die.

You basically name some hard counters to katana infantry, what did you expect?

They're katana heroes because they're the best at what katana infantry does. Dont expect them to suddenly shrug off bullets/arrows/cavalry charges.

Katana heros are a waste of money. Matchlock ashigaru will kill them in seconds. 2 loan swords will beat a veteran katana hero. Veteran katana calvalry or great guard will beat a katana hero. A veteran bow hero can beat a katana hero in 30 seconds. Katana heros are not good to bring vs good players.

Lol my katana hero online is a level 6 veteran and pratically destroys any other melee unit. However im still trying to achieve getting its level up to 10 but by then i imagine the unit will be like 2000+ koku lol. However the danger is matchlocks which can kill them instantly as there so few in number and armour counts for nothing when it comes to dodging a bullet so its hart breaking when u see 2000+ koku gone down the drain :(
