How do you know he's not hitting on the oils from that "popper" that shoots the ball out? Too many variables. What's wrong with just throwing the ball at the training aide box?

Good question. The BSD is just another training tool. During the proofing phase it is removed and the reward is delivered by hand, that is how you know he is not hitting on the device. There is nothing wrong with delivering the reward by hand. Every method has its pros and cons. The BSD is a great tool for the trainer's toolbox. It is used by many with great success.

Hi
very nice work on your videos, Congratulations...
My question is how do you work in the reliability aspect of the detection, is it with correction? And was the dog whering a shock collar?
I have never done this type of work so I'm really curious mainly because the dog looked so good and happy working.

Thank you! Nero is wearing a remote trainer, but not for the detection work. Depending upon how the collar is used it can be incorporated very effectively into many training venues including detection. Nero is a very driven dog and is truly working for the source order because it brings reward. Dogs with correct working temperament and drives generally do not require compulsion for reliability in detection work, just a lot of positive reinforcement and success.
