iPhone: Co-Pilot vs TomTom (September 2009)

So I was contacted a few weeks back by the creators of Co-Pilot and they gave me access (thank you) to their iPhone application (which has also recently been updated). My verdict on it is that its actually pretty amazing - I still find it hard to believe that they are charging such a cheap price for such a quality product - superior to the TomTom in my honest opinion. Hope you like the video ;)

UPDATE: Co-Pilot got in touch with me after watching this review and they tell me significant advances in the UI are on their way, an update is in progress and should be available soon.

That abc keyboard is bloody AWFUL! What is the matter with a standard qwerty keyboard which everybody can use and type fluently with?! This has completely put me off this app now and I'm not going to buy it. I'll stick with Google Navigation.

Question: Does it give vocal directions? Or do you have to always be looking at it to know when to turn?

Gives vocal directions, like tomtom does.

Very comprehensive review there, enjoyed it! Was hoping you could show us it in action on the road, however i doubt the police would be chuft at holding a camera, a phone amd tryin to drive all at once lol! I reckon this is the satnav im gonna get, ive heard bad things about the tomtom, i dont want to shell out 60 quid and find i dont like it! Love the petrol price checker, awesome :)

On road usage is on its way, should be up tonight or tomorrow. I usually like to give an overview of the features before doing live tests ;). Should be up soon and you'll be notified under your 'subscriptions' box once its gone live ;). I'd recommend you not shelling out 60 notes yet - its not worth it.

Top review. Helped me make my mind up. After owning a Tom Tom unit many moons ago I thought I would give the Co-pilot a go for my iPhone. Great app. Actually prefer it over Tom Tom. Many thank, Jason.

Thanks for a great review. I was debating between Tom Tom & Copilot, but your review confirmed what I've suspected, Copilot is the better product. I will definitely be getting this app! You have a beautiful Scottish accent. :)

@buzzman1982 Yes, you can have the music play or have it mute or have it turned to half volume when ever a turn command is spoken.
