This one was special because most younger myspacers/youtubers don't know that this was the original version of "Balm In Gilead". On "Finally Karen", Donald Lawrence rearranged Twinkie's 80's hit "Balm In Gilead". This was the NOT ONLY the original arragement but a portion of our choreography was The Clark Sister's actual routine back in the 80's. When we point in the air and turn our heads to the beat....THAT WAS THE CLARK SISTER'S ACTUAL ROUTINE (we added the rest...lol).
This was recorded at Bailey's Cathedral in Detroit MI 1986. Our grandmother, Dr. Mattie Moss Clark was honored with an appreciation service. We prepared three songs for her.....this was the first. Our mother Denise, steps in to save the day....we were dying a slow death.
We are wearing T-shirts from the record company of The Clark Sisters. The shirts were ADULT sized and they read "Smile God Loves You". That was the single that the company wanted to push for The Clark Sisters.
All the family is in this video: Aunt Jacky is directly behind the brothers...as well as Aunt Karen. Aunt Dorinda is in the metallic dress to the back left. My grandmother is wearing the "boa" feathers on the left. Aunt Twinkie is out of the camera but playing the organ. Thomas Whitfield is sitting on the right (he isn't related). As mentioned before, our mother will appear in the "Snow White meets Cinderella" pink dress. She did save us from COMPLETE disaster. Thanks mom.
The Clark Brothers are (left to right from the back row): Lorenzo Clark, Derrick Clark, Larry Clark. (left to right from the front): Richard Clark and Nicholas Clark
If you want to know how we are related to The Clark Sisters.....
