Architect Vouli Mamfredis and engineer Roland Charneux spoke at the Construction Specifications Canada conference in Montreal.
Mamfredis and Charneux have worked together on three Mountain Equipment Co-op buildings and on Abondance le Soleil, a residential project in Verdun, Quebec built under the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. EQuilibrium Sustainable Housing Demonstration Initiative.
Mamfredis is founder and partner of Montreal-based Studio MMA Atelier D'architecture.
Charneux is executive vice-president and principal of Pageau Morel, a mechanical and electrical engineering firm.
At the conference they talked about how hybrid ventilation, photovoltaic panels, sawtooth roofs and the use of the thermal mass properties of concrete can make buildings more energy efficient.
