Just yesterday he came into my town
And I saw crowds of people standing round this man
He was a man just like me
But he did things that you wouldn't believe

I followed Jesus with the others in the crowd
To try and see what He would do
I heard someone say
That He's the One prophesied to be
But He doesn't look like a Messiah to me

All that it took was a look in His eyes
And piercing words to almost make me cry
Cause He knew all of my deeds
Yet He never stopped loving me

I'm staring at such an unordinary man
With tender eyes and a carpenter's hands
He preaches against hypocrisy and sin
But people call Him "the sinner's friend"

We followed Jesus all along the countryside
And as we walked we watched Him live His life
But the hardest thing for me to understand
Is how He can hate the sin and yet still love the man
