I Lost My Sugar In Salt Lake City. Composers Leon Rene & Johnny Lange (Hope Lange's dad who also composed "Mule Train") - Frantic Fay Thomas Exclusive Records 145X 78rpm. The last of Fay's only 3 recordings - all on Exclusive in 1949. Leon Rene, afro-american born Louisiana 6th Feb 1902 died LA 30th May 1982 founded it in '43 & had success with Joe Liggins & Charles Brown but only had 78rpm presses so when 33s & 45s came in @ '48/'49 they were in trouble. Add to that piracy & distributors not paying up & it went bust in 1949. Leon's wife, Jenny (Jimmie) Thomas, got composing credit on Rocking Robin - Bobby Day's '58 hit so maybe Fay's related to her. Pics Fay, Lee Young on drums & Leonard Bibbs on Bass. Pics: Fay, Lee Young & Leon Rene. Upload for fair use and educational purposes only
