Just to let you know that I finally completed my TOS era Star Trek video today. I included a clip of your warp engine. You can see it on You Tube at "Enterprise Drydock Crew Under Pressure." Enjoy. And thanks for your help.
Awesome job. Great work. I have been searching for the right TOS engine room core scene for my next Star Trek TOS era fan made film. This certainly fits the bill. I hope you don't mind if I use this in my film. Of course, I will credit your work in my video and hopefully draw more views to your channel. Would you happen to have more TOS engine room views? Thanks.
I always figured that the core was a horizontal NX-01ish looking thing hidden underneath the floor. As in take a vertical core, lay it on it's side with the crystal hatch poking up through the floor, with those tubes behind the fence being the conduits up into the nacelles.
@Ashenion22 Yep. If I remember right, the top of the core is in the floor of the engineering room, and it extends several decks below there. I don't believe they ever showed the whole thing.
@Ashenion22 Engineering "evolved" as the show went on. There was a unit on the floor that wasn't there during some of the earlier episodes where the dilithium crystals were located. I suppose that could have been the core.
It is NOT the warp core. It MUST be the conduit going to the two warp nacelles. I saw what the Warp Core looked like. Much smaller than that of others. On the episode, "Ellan of Trios" (?) Ellan was shown the entire ship...and the warp core for a second, or so.
That's not the warp core. The "hat" of the warp core is actually in the right foreground of that image.

Yep, just as Honestinwilkesbarre said in a previous comment, this is not the warp core its the impulse engine bay.
Great vid by the way.
