Well to everyone who says this is over the top and doesn't work aversion therapy does work on a certain selection of people. It has been made to look ridiculous in this video but there is plenty of evidence to suggest that it does indeed work. This is not only from my professional standpoint (i'm a doctor of Forensic and Clinical Psychology) but also from someone who has had a family member who had aversion therapy.

@dknytodd I think he means that she would catch on as to what they were doing to here, and why exactly the shock occured.
She looks completely surprised by the shock

dude wtf is wrong with doctors.

that 's crazy lmao
I'm really sceptic about the generalisation of this effect. Of course, she won't eat those things anymore when she hangs on such a machine. But the moment she gets off that machine and she takes one bite of a hamburger and she gets no shock, she will eat these things with a lot of pleasure again.

@frodo0901 i agree. i put this up mostly for it's funny factor. the documentary this is from is terrible but pretty funny to watch. it was all about american fads in the late 70's early 80's. the film was mostly shown at drive-ins and in foreign countries. it is called "this is america"

The woman certainly appears to be hypnotized. A normal person would catch onto the game pretty fast -- enough that she wouldn't let a milkshake fly out of her hand.
